<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/candlelight.jpg" alt="candles" title="candlelight" width="251" height="300" />Candles and oil lamps were the most common sources of lighting prior to the domestication of electricity. Candlemakers were known as “Chandlers”.

For thousands of years, candles have been used by humans to extend “the day” and to dispel darkness and gloom. Candles affect us on a number of different levels. Gazing into a flame is a mesmerizing and calming experience, relaxing both body and mind.

Until the 19th century candles were common in northern Europe, while olive oil lamps were more common in southern Europe and around the Mediterranean.

Because a candle throws light on a relatively small area, it creates a sense of intimacy among those basking in its glow. On a sensual level, candles induce a sense of warmth, even though they emit very little heat. A candle can also capture the eye through the beauty of its color and design, which are enhanced by the flickering flame. Aromatic candles add more pleasure to the mix by appealing to your sense of smell.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/candlelit-bath.jpg" alt="candlelit bath" title="candlelit-bath" width="300" height="190" />Scented candles create a romantic atmosphere during intimate evenings at home, and are valued gifts to the special people in your life.

The study of how scents affect the central nervous system is centuries old. Modern day aromatherapists can evaluate a client’s situation and prescribe a solution in one short consultation. Aromatherapy candles can be used in the same way as essential oils to change a person’s frame of mind in a calm and non-threatening way.

To help a person feel calm, use a candle scented with chamomile. A lavender candle will induce a feeling of serenity. To help someone who is worn out, give him or her a sandalwood candle. To lift someone who is down, give a candle scented with ocean breeze.

Candles are often used to enhance quiet thinking, and suitable types include chakra candles and Feng Shui candles. Meditators often use an aromatherapy burner fueled by tealights or votive candles.

Give highly scented candles to someone who enjoys taking baths by candlelight. Choose soft colors or neutral shades for people who love to relax. Give strong colored candles to people who love to celebrate.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/birthday_beer.jpg" alt="birthday candles" title="birthday_beer" width="222" height="300" />Candles are regularly used in ceremonies such as christenings, birthdays, weddings and graduations. Most candles are made from beeswax, paraffin, soy, gel or other materials such as resins. You can purchase clean burning soy candles if you or the people around you suffer from hypersensitivity.

Candles in decorative containers such as glass, wire or steel vases All of these, with the possible exception of character shapes, make great sensuous gifts.

Even a character shaped candle can be romantic if it has a particular significance. For example, a candle shaped like a snowman can remind her of the night you fell in love while building a snowman in her parents’ yard.

Most women love candles of any kind, and men who take pride in their surroundings will also appreciate a beautifully crafted candle.

When choosing a romantic candle, keep in mind the design pallete the person favors in his or her home. Don’t give her a sparkling blue candle if her living room is decorated in shades of salmon. Don’t give him a red candle if his apartment is painted in olive tones.

Go for clean, classical lines when you buy, like elegant tapered candles or classic round candles, either big or small, in clear, beautiful colors. You can buy a more extravagantly decorated candle if you know the person will absolutely love it. Or you might buy a fun candle for someone with a great sense of humor.

If you’re absolutely stuck, buy a neutral color. If you know the person well, you might choose a candle that fits in with his or her interests. A zodiac candle will thrill an astrology buff, while a pyramid candle will please an Egyptian history enthusiast.

You can find a whole range of candle containers that feature dolphins, butterflies and other motifs that make for an excellent personalized gift. Choose a highly scented candle that features one of their favorite scents.

Today, waxes are used primarily for their aesthetic value, particularly to set a soft, warm, or romantic ambience, and for emergency lighting during power failures. Scented candles are common in aromatherapy. And of course, what would a birthday cake be without at least one?

Rechargeable candles have become very popular due to their convenience, safety, and low cost.

In Christianity, they typically represent the light of Jesus, and are often placed on the altar. Votives may be lit as an accompaniment to prayer. They are lit by worshippers in front of icons in Orthodox and other churches. Candlemas marks the end of the season of Epiphany.

Traditionally used to light up Christmas trees before the advent of electric lights. They are still, even today, commonly used to decorate Christmas trees in Denmark and other European countries. They are also used in Advent wreaths.

In Sweden (and other Scandinavian countries), St. Lucia Day is celebrated on December 13 with the crowning of a young girl with a ring of light.

In Judaism, they are traditionally lit on Friday evening at the start of the weekly Sabbath celebration. The Jewish holiday of Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated by lighting a special candelabrum (menorah) each night during the eight-day holiday to commemorate the dedication of the altar in the Temple in Jerusalem. They are also used in remembering a deceased loved one.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/asteroid-impact.jpg" alt="asteroid astrology" title="asteroid-impact" width="260" height="300" />Asteroid Astrology represents highly specific principles and influences, in contrast to the planets, which are associated with a broad range of attributes and personality traits.

Most asteroids orbit in the “belt” between Mars and Jupiter. There are others, however, loose throughout our solar system.

The “big four”, Juno, Pallas, Ceres and Vesta, are wife, daughter and sisters of god Jupiter. Much of the feminine mystique had been left out of traditional astrology (aside from Venus and the Moon). Asteroids have added some feminine characteristics back into the astrological mix.

Another asteroid large enough to be used in birth charts is Chiron, which orbits between Saturn and Uranus.

Chiron, a centaur in Greek mythology, was known as a great healer and is the most significant of the “centaur” asteroids. In reality, it is a comet nucleus that was discovered in 1977. Also known as the “Planet of Healing”, Chiron deals with all aspects of health and disease and how they affect our spiritual path.

“Wounded” Chiron, despite his great skills, was never able to heal himself. He symbolizes everyone who finds strength through their weakness. Everyone is wounded in some manner. Whatever these wounds are, Chiron influences us to overcome our condition and go on.

Like Chiron, we may find that in healing others we gain insight and knowledge in ourselves. Chiron has an unusual orbit, rather like Pluto. Many astrologers think of Chiron as a “mediator” between Uranus and Saturn.

Chiron gives wisdom and patience as well as mastery over the darkness of our souls. Wounds may be considered gifts when looked at from a different angle. They give us character, lessons in life and perseverance.

Ceres was the first to be discovered in the asteroid belt, and is for many at least as important as Pluto in astrological charts, since both are now classified as “dwarf planets”.

Ceres was the sister of Zeus (Jupiter), and is the quintessential Earth Mother that rules over food, cooking and nutrition. Wherever she appears in your chart, she shows how best you feel nurtured. This is also the area where you can easily provide love and comfort.

She influences mothering, hard work, parenting and gardening, and she shows how well we “go with the flow” in the universal sense. This is the unification of both giving and receiving through ourselves as an exchange of energy.

She is associated with fertility, the uterus and stomach. On her negative side, she influences grief, work problems, eating disorders, custody issues and kidnapping. She may influence low self esteem, fear of abundance, feelings of abandonment or unworthiness, over-attachment, possessiveness, parent-child complexes and barrenness.

Pallas Athena was the second asteroid discovered. Named after Jupiter’s daughter, Pallas Athena is intelligent and cerebral. She is the weaver of patterns, linking ideas together.

She is strategic command in both the warrior and the peaceful general. Cities are her domain. She has an interconnection with Libra because of her focus on ideas. Like Libra, she can see both sides. She is creative and artistic. She is a survivor.

She expects everyone to claim their personal power. Where her influence falls is where you will find talents in the following areas.

Jupiter’s daughter carries influence over many things, such as the immune system, and kidneys, the arts, the father/daughter relationship, intuition, justice, wisdom, defense and horses.

As “daddy’s little girl”, Pallas Athena helps determine your relationship with your father, and in turn how you treat all males in general. On her negative side, Pallas Athena touches on conflict, legal battles, injustice, and illnesses due to a weakened immune system.

Juno was the third asteroid to be discovered. Juno is the wife of Jupiter. She has some similarities to Venus, but while Venus sparks that initial attraction, Juno makes the commitment. She sings of soul mates.

As she moves through the sky, the face of relationships change, but she still stands for commitment of one kind or another. Where you find Juno in your chart is where you may meet someone that you will remain with for a long relationship.

She covers marriage, fashion and beauty. She is the patron of relationships and true love. Diplomacy is part of her sphere. She has influence with the weather, flowers, fairness and female genitalia. She also deals with Jupiter’s many infidelities, and thus has influence over the negative issues of spouse abuse, powerlessness, women’s rights (both positive and negative), rage, inferiority complexes and unfairness. She may also affect issues of denial, betrayal, inequality and of course bitterness.

Vesta is the second largest asteroid in our solar system and the fourth to be discovered. Sister of Jupiter, the virgin goddess Vesta is the keeper of the hearth. She is devoted attention, focus and dedication. She is mental clarity and self-respect.

Vesta brings out your purest potential and essence into being. Vesta is organized and perfect. She has a talent for breaking things down into its components. She rules the metabolism and the upper intestine. She guards locks and keys, sisters, security, investments, insurance, and inheritance.

She is the epitome of home and family, ritual, chastity, sexuality and devotion. Her negative aspects include insecurity, lack of focus, promiscuity, segregation, secret societies and family troubles. There may be a fear of sex or intimacy, as well as an invalidation of self. Denial can be a big aspect when she is negative.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/shuttle-transits-sun.jpg" alt="sun shuttle astrology" title="shuttle-transits-sun" width="300" height="174" />The Sun, a medium sized star, contains 99.9% of all the matter in our solar system and is the most powerful force in our astrology.

The Sun takes a year to journey through the twelve Signs of the Zodiac, spending about a month visiting each one. It is the “ruler” of Leo and the Fifth House. Masculine, hot and dry our star is a positive influence upon every astrological sign.

As the Sun puts forth light, so it brings forth life. This “Planet” (more accurately called a luminary) represents the self, one’s personality and ego, the spirit and what it is that makes the individual unique. It is our identity and our face to the world. The Sun also speaks to creative ability and the power of the individual to meet the challenges of everyday life.

One’s natural father, husbands and other male influences are ruled by the Sun, as are children. The Sun’s energy is a forceful one, and in its wake comes authority, the ability to lead and an individual’s essence, their core being. Through the will of this Planet, we learn to manifest ourselves in the world.

The Sun is majestic, and in keeping with its regal air, it rules royalty and higher office. This orb also lords over our health and well-being. The Sun’s golden glow is a vital life force which imbues us with strength, energy and a will to succeed. It is the Sun which gives strength to the other Planets, which is why this planet occupies a key role in astrology.

Physically, the native of the Sun is very much like one born under Jupiter, but with lighter hair, redder complexion, fatter body, and larger eyes. When the Sun is well dignified, the native is affable, courteous, splendid and sumptuous, proud, liberal, humane, and ambitious. When it is ill dignified, the native is arrogant, mean, loquacious, and sycophantic, resembling the native under Jupiter when ill dignified, but even worse.

The Sun indicates that which is most seasonable and proper. The professions it governs include kings, lords and all dignified persons, braziers, goldsmiths and persons employed in mints. It rules over courts, palaces, theaters, halls and places of state.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/uranus1.jpg" alt="uranus astrology" title="uranus" width="290" height="290" />Uranus was the first planet discovered since before recorded history. William Herschel made the revolutionary find on March 13, 1781, and named it George (for England’s king). Many called the planet “Herschel”, after its discoverer. But, by the mid 1800s, the name Uranus had come into common usage, as more consistent with the mythological names of the other planets.

The third largest planet in our solar system, Uranus is about four times the size of Earth. It is 30,000 miles in diameter, compared to Jupiter’s 85,000 miles. As with all gas planets, Uranus has very faint rings around it made up of large chunks of rocky material. Uranus has more than 20 moons.

At 1.75 billion miles from the Sun, it takes Uranus 84 years to complete its orbit. The blue-green planet has a day 7 hours shorter than Earth’s.

The way in which this planet travels is unusual and even eccentric. Rather than rotating on an axis that is perpendicular to the plane of its orbit, Uranus spins on its side with its south pole facing the sun. It also rotates from east to west, the opposite direction of Earth and most other planets.

Uranus was one of the Greek’s earliest myths. Besides being Supreme Ruler, he was also son and mate of Gaia, the Earth mother goddess of creation.

As the first known planet beyond Saturn, the discovery caused world-wide interest and concern that coincided with the political revolutions of America and France and the industrial revolution in England. These disruptions of intellectual and political circles gave astrologers reason to believe that Uranus represented rebelliousness, disruptive influences, breaking away from traditional patterns or rules, as well as concern for humanity and brotherhood, progress and inventiveness.

Hence, it was decided that Uranus should co-rule the zodiac sign of Aquarius along with Saturn. Classified as an outer planet (outside of Saturn’s orbit) and remaining in each Zodiac sign for seven years, it was thus considered to have more of a generational effect than a personal effect. Assigning rulership of an astrological sign exclusively to a slow-moving outer planet did not resonate with 20th century astrologers.

It appeared more reasonable to continue using the traditional seven planet rulerships of the zodiac signs; and to allow any newly discovered planets to add additional meaning to particular signs as co-rulers.

Hence, Uranus is the co-ruler of Aquarius, with Saturn as the sign’s main indicator. In the Saturn world of the material and the structured, Uranus represents the rejection of rules that no longer serve us and the installation of new viewpoints that see through the illusion of Saturn’s limits. Uranus brings the sudden force that tears down unneeded walls so that something newer and better can be built from its foundations.

Uranus is associated with humanity, ideals, eccentricity, philanthropy, originality, creative inspiration and genius, but also with chaos, accidents, disasters, antisocial behavior and radical individualism. It is a planet of personal and global transformation, but the way it brings this about is through sudden, swift, unexpected change. Uranus is like lightning—it seemingly comes from nowhere and illuminates with a brilliant flash. It is said to rule astrology, science, electricity and technology, and is symbolized by inventors, scientists, humanitarians and revolutionaries.

Although the various planets are connected with a wide range of activities and objects, they also, when found in a natal chart, represent different parts of the psyche. Uranus represents the creative, innovative, freedom-seeking part of the self and its placement by sign and house shows much about how and where a person can best express his creative genius and originality, as well as where to anticipate sudden, dramatic change.

If the natal chart shows that Uranus was retrograde at birth (Uranus retrogrades five months a year), then the urge for freedom may be directed internally, leading to progressive ideas and advanced thinking. A retrograde Uranus afflicted by house placement or hard aspect, however, may indicate a native that is merely erratic or eccentric. In either case, interest in the occult may occur as well. A natal Uranus that is stationary points to a native that is very concerned with humanitarian issues, who may become an instrument of change.

Uranus brings with it a new way of looking at things, and its approach is best met with an expanded consciousness. Originality, inventions, computers, cutting-edge technologies and future events are all ruled by this Planet.

Uranus sees no need for the status quo, preferring instead to break with tradition and create a new mold. While the building blocks (science, electricity) are safe here, this Planet would rather focus its gaze on a new world order. To that end, rebellion, revolution, dictators, an autonomous state and free will all fall under the aegis of this Planet.

No one will ever characterize Uranus as subtle. In keeping with its sudden, sometimes violent and often unexpected manner, Uranus rules earthquakes and other natural disasters. This is the Planet of erratic and bizarre behavior and byzantine schemes. Freedom, creativity and a bohemian, utopian society is more in keeping with Uranus’s humanitarian ideals.

This is an androgynous energy that rules the Eleventh House, and is considered to be the higher octave of Mercury and the first of the transcendental Planets.

Physically, Uranus is connected to the body’s nervous system because of its association with electricity and electrical impulses. Those natives with a prominent Uranus in their chart, particularly if the planet is connected to the first house, can be high strung, oversensitive, and prone to nervous tension and exhaustion. Uranus type illnesses come on suddenly and disappear just as mysteriously.

Uranus Astrology covers a planet extremely cold, dry, and melancholy. Natives with a strong Uranian influence are of small stature, dark or pale complexion, rather light hair, highly nervous temperament, and sedate aspect but have some striking physical feature, light gray eyes, and a delicate constitution.

If the planet is well dignified (i.e., there is a high degree of harmony between the planet and the sign it is in), the native is a searcher of science, particularly chemistry, and remarkably attached to the wonderful. The person possesses an extraordinary magnanimity and loftiness of mind, with an uncontrollable and intense desire for pursuits and discoveries of an uncommon nature.

If the planet is ill dignified, the native is weak, sickly, and destined to have a short life; is treacherous, given to gross imposture, unfortunate in undertakings, capricious in tastes, and eccentric in his conduct. The effects of Uranus are of a totally unexpected, strange, and unaccountable character.

The position that Uranus occupies by house determines the area in life in which you can expect the unexpected.

Uranus in the first house:
You have an unusual demeanor, and you strike people as a true original. No matter how hard you try to look conventional, your attempts to pass for ordinary are doomed. From time to time, out-of-left-field events turn your world upside down.

Uranus in the second house:
Money and possessions come and go, arriving and departing with equal speed. You may strike oil, or you may go bankrupt. Your values can undergo a sudden turnaround.

Uranus in the third house:
You have an innovative mind and a clever way of expressing yourself. You could be a brilliant thinker or writer — or you could be a nut. You have unusual siblings, but your relationships with them have their ups and downs. Upsets can occur while traveling.

Uranus in the fourth house:
You come from or create an unconventional family. An erratic relationship with one of your parents (your mother, most likely) has a strong impact on you. You find it hard to settle down, and when you do, you set up housekeeping in a thoroughly individual way. Professional changes affect your domestic life.

Uranus in the fifth house:
You have a wild creative streak and an unpredictable love life. You’re prone to love at first sight, preferably with rebellious types. But sudden breakups are also part of the picture. Your children may be remarkable people, though you may feel that they hamper your freedom.

Uranus in the sixth house:
You don’t mind working, but you oppose the concept of nine-to-five. You manage to find unusual, even peculiar jobs. And even in your daily life, you do things in a unique way. Your nerves affect your health, and you benefit from unorthodox healing techniques.

Uranus in the seventh house:
You may marry an unconventional person, or you may create a free-wheeling relationship that acknowledges, in its radical format, your need for independence. You’re liable to marry with lightning speed, but be careful — you could divorce the same way.

Uranus in the eighth house:
Your sex life has a remarkable, even outrageous, aspect to it, and the same is true for your finances (and those of your spouse). You benefit from unusual investment. You’re also drawn to metaphysical subjects, including the idea of reincarnation. And though I hesitate to mention this, you may as well know: When it coexists with a rare pileup of especially tough aspects, this placement can indicate the possibility of sudden, accidental death — not necessarily your own. Should you worry? No. Keep in mind that literally one out of every twelve people has this placement.

Uranus in the ninth house:
Unusual experiences come to you through travel, education, and the law. You’re interested in religion but not in a conventional way, and your philosophy of life is your own invention.

Uranus in the tenth house:
You insist on maintaining your independence, especially regarding your career. (Fulfilling areas include — but are not limited to — social activism, computer technology, astrology, and science.) You have an original viewpoint, and professional opportunities arrive out of nowhere. Too rebellious to work in a strongly hierarchical organization, you’re a natural entrepreneur or freelancer.

Uranus in the eleventh house:
You’re a tolerant person with unusual aspirations and many highly intelligent, erratic friends who motivate you to achieve. People enter your life on a moment’s notice, especially when you’re involved with a cause, but you can lose contact with them just as quickly. Your many diverse friends reflect your widely scattered interests.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/neptune.jpg" alt="neptune astrology" title="neptune" width="290" height="290" />Neptune is a cold planet located between Uranus and Pluto. Visible only with the aid of a telescope, it is a large, gaseous planet with a turbulent atmosphere consisting of hydrogen, helium, and methane. This violent environment is caused by a storm the size of Earth, called the Great Dark Spot, which circles Neptune every 18.3 hours.

The unusual events surrounding the discovery of Neptune, an astrological symbol for illusion, are quite fitting for this elusive planet. Neptune was first sighted by Galileo in December 1612. Instead of identifying Neptune as a planet, Galileo believed it was a moon of Jupiter and did not research it further. It was not until 1845, more than two centuries later, that a British astronomer published that Uranus’s orbit was the result of a planetary body.

It was suggested that Neptune be named after the Roman god of the sea. In the early 20th century, this name was confirmed after astronomers learned of Neptune’s watery interior.

Neptune, the only other “blue” planet, was discovered in 1846. Its slow orbit around our Zodiac ensures that its effect is generational in nature.

Neptune (Greek: Poseidon) was the brother of Jupiter (Zeus) and Pluto (Hades). After defeating their father Saturn (Cronos) in the Trojan War, the brothers divided the world into three parts. Jupiter took command of the sky, Pluto the underworld, and Neptune rulership of the Earth’s water.

Mythology reveals Neptune as having a violent temper as well as a savage and unpredictable nature. When angered, his rage often displayed itself through storms and earthquakes on land and at sea, making them much feared especially by seafarers.

Floods and droughts were also common results of his wrath. Neptune’s correlation with the sea is quite symbolic as was his association with the sign of Pisces from the first century C.E.

This connection was adopted by many modern astrologers, who consider Neptune the ruler of Pisces. As a seafaring god, Neptune’s role in mythology connects him with all maritime matters and liquids. As such, boats, sailing, fish, sea creatures, bodies of water, fog, and floods all fall under his domain.

Psychologically speaking, the sea symbolizes the collective and personal unconscious as well as all that is part of the subtle, intangible side of human existence. Thus, Neptune speaks to the intuitive mind, inspiration and imagination, dreams and psychic receptivity. Yet, the depth of water often distorts vision causing illusion or disillusionment, and bringing states of confusion, escapism and suffering.

It is feminine energy and rules Pisces and the Twelfth House. Neptune is known as the higher octave of Venus and is the second of the transcendental Planets.

In the birth chart, Neptune indicates the ability to see beyond the finite self and world in order to experience unity with a greater whole. It seeks to dissolve the limitations and boundaries of the physical world by beautifying life or raising it to a higher level through displays of compassion, service, and creative force. This inner desire is often sought through artistic or spiritual experience.

These activities allow one to escape the bonds of the mundane reality for a time. Through suffering, the wisdom of Neptune helps to flow through difficulties, leading towards levels of consciousness beyond the ego and providing the capacity to see the unity in all. Hence, Neptune teaches empathy and the highest form of love. Neptune is the higher expression or octave of the planet Venus.

Venus symbolizes personal love and harmonization with others, while Neptune represents universal love and unity with the cosmos. Neptune
refines and sensitizes everything it touches such that one steps beyond the crudeness and coarseness within and embraces the capacity for unselfish devotion and giving.

Individuals with this planet prominent in their horoscope often feel a need to merge or submerge themselves in a group, even to the point of sacrificing their own interests for a collective belief (such as a religious or political movement). It is also possible such individuals are susceptible to victimization or an attitude of being the victim.

A true Neptunian feels connected with everything. They are naturally kind and caring towards others and display a great love of animals and all helpless creatures. Often individuals with a strong Neptune care for the problems of others as if they were their own and can get so tangled with others’ vibrations that they require some degree of solitude in order to revitalize themselves and separate their thoughts and feelings from those of others. Otherwise, it is quite easy for these individuals to become lost in the clouds, unable to separate reality from illusion.

This sensitivity supports Neptune’s connection with addiction, alcohol, intoxicants, and hallucinogenic drugs as a means of escaping the difficulties of the world and the fear of connecting or merging with a
higher source.

Neptune is also the embodiment of imagination and artistic sensitivity. Its gifts include artistic and musical talents, imagination, inspiration, and visionary abilities. Its artistic capacities include film, photography, dance, and painting.

This planet is also associated with mysticism and spiritual enlightenment. Thus, matters of religion connect Neptune with saints, nuns, monks, priests, churches, alters, and other dimensions.

Neptune moves very slowly in the sky, completing an orbit of the Sun every 164.79 years, meaning it stays almost 14 years in each sign of the zodiac. Because of its slow movement, its significance in a zodiacal sign is often considered more generational than individual, describing shifts of ideology within society.

However, its house placement in the birth chart shows in what area of life it is easiest to delude one’s self or where one has and can make use of intuitive sensitivity and creativity in order to fulfill one’s highest ideals. There is often a deep sense of mission and a willingness to sacrifice personal interest, rising above the demands of the ego, for the larger good in the attainment of this ideal.

Its placement is also where one is most attuned with the higher realms. Negative manifestations of Neptune can include escapism (including addictions), deception (including self-deception), confusion, depression, guilt, and vagueness. Planets in aspect with Neptune are inclined towards fantasy, dreaminess, and a vulnerable nature, making its expression susceptible to disillusionment.

Neptune Astrology is associated with those forces that tend to do away with such artificial barriers as time, space, ego, and national borders. It might be seen as the higher, more spiritual, form of Venus.

Its qualities include universality, idealism, compassion, spirituality, formlessness, elusiveness, secrecy, mystery, fantasy, and delusion. All states of consciousness that destroy the limitations of normal waking consciousness indicate Neptune’s influence.

Neptune’s glyph is the trident of Poseidon, God of the Seas. Much about this Planet is fluid (Neptune rules the oceans, rivers, etc. of the Earth), changeable and illusory in nature. Dreams, illusion, abstract thought and the mysterious are all governed by Neptune.

Our spirituality is important to this Planet, and how we harness that energy for our personal betterment. Neptune invites us to let its energy wash over us and to use a meditative state to gain insights and heightened awareness. Poetry, music and dance are among the trance-like activities which this Planet favors.

Neptune does have its showier side, as it rules movies, television, theater, fashion and all forms of glamour. In essence, Neptune is creating an illusion — of what is enchanting on the outside and captivating within. Neptune has a mystique which doesn’t reveal itself easily. It can be a poser, too, dabbling in flattery — and subversion.

The shadow side of Neptune is akin to the aging star who cannot make one more curtain. When the lights are low, this Planet plays in a netherworld of drugs, alcohol, trances and hypnosis. Neptunian energy reeks of escapism on its darker days, a sea of delusion, hypochondria and abnormality.

The house that Neptune inhabits in your horoscope tells you where you can
access the most profound level of intuition — and where you’re prone to
deception.
Neptune in the first house: You’re impressionable, dreamy, and fluid.
Your intuition is acute, but you can easily become dependent. You con-
fuse and fascinate people; they aren’t sure who you are or what you’re
up to because your identity seems to shift. There’s a good chance that
you have musical or artistic ability.
Neptune in the second house: You have an intuitive sense of how to
make money. You can even earn money through spiritual pursuits. But
you also have the ability to be defrauded because you haven’t a clue
about the mechanics of saving money, and as a result, your financial
affairs are likely to be chaotic. Hire a responsible earth sign to help.
Neptune in the third house: You’re impressionable, imaginative, and
highly sensitive to language. Persuasive but easily distracted, you soak
up knowledge and have poetic ability. You’re also gullible — and no one
knows how to fool you better than your brothers and sisters.
Neptune in the fourth house: The members of your family are an
unusual lot. Their influence is powerful and subtle, and you find it diffi-
cult to separate from them. You may have inherited psychic ability.
Neptune in the fifth house: You’re artistic and sensitive, but you find it
difficult to focus your creativity. Platonic relationships and secret affairs
may characterize your romantic life, and you’re drawn to people who
mystify you. Your children (should you conquer your ambivalence about
that subject and decide to become a parent) are likely to be impression-
able and gentle, and you have a strong psychic tie with them.
Neptune in the sixth house: You tend to get caught in the web of office
politics, and the physical aspects of regular jobs — the fluorescent
lights, the hideous decor — make you long for escape. Job possibilities
exist in film, pharmacology, music, fashion, and anything connected to
the sea. Keep in mind that your health complaints are seldom solved
through Western-style medicine. Doctors have difficulty diagnosing you,
and you do better with more intuitive healing styles.
Neptune in the seventh house: Moody people and artistic souls attract
you. You seek your spiritual soul mate, but in your confusion about rela-
tionships, you may sacrifice yourself to an image or ideal that has noth-
ing to do with your actual partner. Idealism about relationships is
wonderful, but only when it’s tempered with realism.

Pluto Astrology spotlights the slow-moving outermost “planet” of our solar systen. It represents a powerful transforming energy whose effect is relative to its position in the chart.

Pluto’s qualities are power, elimination, latency, eruption, annihilation, renewal, and regeneration. It is seen as related to subtle underground forces that lie dormant for a time and then suddenly burst forth.

The discovery of Pluto came at the same time as the rise of Nazism, the discussions on splitting the atom, and the rise of mass media. Pluto’s power is the power of the atom, the power of the masses, and the power of the unconscious.

<img style="float:right;margin:0 0 5px 15px;"src="http://astro-girls.com/wp-content/uploads/pisces7.jpg" alt="pisces love horoscope" title="pisces7" width="233" height="300" />Your Pisces Love Horoscope, of course, can involve incompatible and well as compatible Zodiac signs. Pisces astrology and your relationships are always unique to individuals and no two will ever be the same.

Relating to air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Air signs are clever at managing everyday reality, but they have no idea about feelings. They live in their heads and have trouble seeing beneath the surface of things.

You, on the other hand, are in touch with your instincts and emotions, easily understand subtle nuances, but have trouble logically reasoning things out and dealing with the real world. Air and water are poles apart, so any relationship between these elements is especially difficult.

To make matters worse, air signs are often critical of water signs. Air thinks water is slow and dense, so you tend to feel inferior when air signs are around. Because the water element follows the air element, you can actually teach air signs a thing or two. They think they have all the answers, but actually they don’t.

The good news is that because the water element follows the air element, you can actually teach air signs a thing or two. Neptune has an orbit twice as long as Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius, so you can make even the most highly evolved Aquarian stop and think twice.

Air signs are sceptical about your instinctual way of relating to the world, but a time eventually comes when they notice that you actually know things they don’t, and then they will want to know why you didn’t tell them.

Air signs are generally afraid of emotions and feelings and are sceptical about anything psychic or spiritual. The deep waters of the unconscious are literally terrifying to air signs, because these things are not rational. Despite the many differences between you, there are some areas where air and water can find common ground.

Geminis are mutable and changeable, like you; its just that they live in their heads rather than their hearts. You share some similar characteristics with Librans too, for they are lovers of art, are keen to maintain peace and harmony, and will also make great sacrifices for the sake of others just like you. You also understand why Aquarians are interested in the future of humanity, but you possess a much deeper and broader vision.

Relating to water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
All water signs are sensitive, emotional people who feel things deeply. You can always find emotional support and a safe haven with other water signs.

Most of the time water/water relationships are mutually supportive, but sometimes you can take each other on a downward spiral. When one water sign is going through a down period, the other will automatically feel sympathy and also begin to feel down. But when you are up, they are up too.

When you are looking for emotional support, your fellow water signs will provide it. Relationships with Cancerians are highly creative and lots of fun. Scorpios can help you develop some staying power. Other Pisceans will, of course, understand you better than anyone, but the positives and negatives of this relationship will be amplified.

Relating to earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Water and earth are naturally compatible for earth signs provide the form and structure you need. They have practical skills which can help you turn your beautiful dreams into a tangible living reality.

Earth signs bring stability into your life, and they are good with money too. Sometimes you find them rather dull and ordinary, but you infuse imagination and emotion into their otherwise black and white, humdrum existence, so they benefit too.

Earth signs bring stability to your life. Capricorn is probably your most compatible sign, for Capricorns are really fish-tailed goats; Taurus is also a good match for you for they are romantic souls who appreciate love, beauty and art.

Virgo is your opposite sign and, as with all pairs of opposites, there is often a magnetic attraction. But the Virgo/Pisces relationship can be fraught with problems, because opposite signs often bring out the worst in each other.

Although in some ways you are compatible, and can learn a great deal about yourself from this relationship, opposite signs tend to unconsciously project all the unwanted aspects of their personalities onto each other, so this relationship can end up in the can pretty fast. But in highly evolved souls, a relationship between opposites can be one of the most romantic, beautiful and joyous of lifes experiences.

Relating to fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Fire sign people will stress you out because they push you to do things. They want you to be more dynamic, extroverted and outgoing.

You will probably try to slip through their net, but you can nevertheless learn agreat deal from them. When it comes to courage, taking the initiative and acting independently, you know you struggle.

Fire signs see when you are floundering and can point the way forward. Theyre there to help you become more assertive and courageous, and encourage you to express yourself with more self-confidence.

Pisces and Aries:
The attraction can be intense at first, but your inherent differences in matters of the heart might get the better of your relationship in the long run.

With understanding and patience, however, this partnership can be very rewarding. Your partner is more than likely the one to take the lead in this relationship. You can be somewhat shy and unsure with someone new, but very charming indeed.

You possess a dreamy quality that can be very enticing to your Aries partner. But this very quality that hooks his or her interest in you in the first place, might get your partner impatient once the novelty fades away.

Your elusiveness and downright evasiveness at times stands in stark contrast to your partner’s style of expressing love—so much so that it could seem completely alien to you both. Your lover is direct and forthright in love, and usually appreciates the same in others.

You don’t come across in quite so clear terms, and this can confuse your partner. If the love is there, all that is needed is the understanding that you and your partner express love in distinctly different ways. As well, you enjoy understatement in romance, and your partner should understand and respect this quality.

His or her bluntness may be appreciated by less sensitive souls, but you may sometimes be put off by a manner that seems far too brusque than necessary. In turn, you should learn to appreciate knowing exactly where you stand with your partner. It might bite sometimes, but it’s honest. You have much to offer each other once you get past the matter of differing love “styles”.

Pisces and Taurus:
Although you have your differences in the way you express love, this is a fertile and creative combination. Your partner is strong and dependable in relationships—perhaps exactly what you need, at least most of the time.

You don’t always feel strong, simply because you are a sensitive soul who can be quite impressionable. A solid and steady partner such as your a Taurus lover will help ground you.

You are certainly more changeable and flexible when it comes to relationships, and you may view your lover’s dependability as both positive and negative at different times, depending on your mood.

Sometimes, you might find your lover too be a bit too set in his or her ways. Other times, you will appreciate the predictability and simplicity of your lover’s needs in partnership. You can lean on your partner when you feel the need, and that is comforting indeed. Both of you appreciate art, although your tastes can be quite different.

Your partner might sometimes complain that you are indecisive or too changeable—moody, perhaps. But if he or she recognizes that your tenderness (something that your lover is sure to value) is an absolute constant, your partner is sure to “overlook” your seemingly inconsistent states of mind. You can complement each other very well.

Pisces and Gemini:
Different needs in romance and partnership can be a source of fascinated attraction, and can also cause plenty of conflicts. Your partner’s desire for communication is strong, and you, too, want to connect with a partner.

However, your lover places more value on mental stimulation while you value the power of understatement in romance. While your partner delights in having everything defined, you have a hard time making definite statements when it comes to matters of the heart.

Both of you are kind, live-and-let-live sorts, and this quality will certainly help the partnership. You also share a certain measure of inconsistency and changeability when it comes to love. The main difference here is your needs in love. You rely on intuition, preferring to keep love on an emotional level.

Cornering you for answers, definitions, or analyses of your partnership won’t get your lover very far—perhaps only frustrated. Your partner’s energy sometimes leaves you unsettled, while your elusiveness can be difficult for him or her to understand.

Your partner’s playfulness may, at times, unnerve you, as you can be somewhat sensitive, although quite forgiving. What makes sense is to focus on the positive in your pairing—both of you are flexible, intelligent people who are capable of meeting each other’s needs as long as love and tolerance are in place.

Pisces and Cancer:
This can be a highly rewarding partnership featuring plenty of devotion and dreamy attachment. Mutual respect is likely, and some similar goals in partnership and romance are sure to strengthen the bond.

Both of you value understatement and innocence in romance, and an emotional attachment is important to you both. Your partner wants to take care of the people he or she loves, offering them security along with love, and you are particularly receptive to this nurturing style.

The biggest problem that might arise between you is the following fundamental difference between your love natures: your partner is more clannish, specific, and personal in his or her affections, while you incline toward universal love.

The sensitivity you express doesn’t always make your lover feel special, as he or she sometimes may feel that you are in love with mankind in general, not just him or her. You may find that your partner tries to redirect your love into more focused channels.

You may easily fall for the underdog, and your partner may feel that you are in need of a little directing in this respect. Your partner is also attracted to the needy, but he or she has met, in you, a soul who seems to be easily led astray, and he or she may spend some time trying to capture and tame this elusiveness that leaves him or her feeling a little disconcerted.

If in fact you learn to understand and accept this basic difference in style, this partnership can certainly be a powerful one. It’s an especially warm, devoted, and nurturing combination, and the ties you make with each other are sure to be unforgettable.

Pisces and Leo:
We are mixing Fire with Water with this combination. Your Leo partner is very direct and generous with his or her affections.

You are probably just as generous, but your manner of expressing love is markedly different than that of your partner. The challenge here is to accept these different styles of love, something that Leo has difficulty doing (Leo is a fixed sign, and flexibility in the love department doesn’t come easily to them).

Both of you are incurable romantics. Your partner’s style, however, is personal, while your loving nature is less specific. You cannot quite call it impersonal, but “universal” may be the best term for your love nature. Your partner appreciates your warmth, but there is something about your approach, which is somewhat indirect and evasive, that seems a little threatening to your partner’s ego.

To your lover, you seem to be so warm and affectionate, but they can’t help but sense that you love everyone that way, not just him or her. Your partner, more than anything, needs to feel special and unique in love, and it can be difficult to pin you down and get that specific attention that he or she craves (or demands).

You two probably share a love of drama, music, and the arts. Your partner is likely to be quite flattered by your sentimentality and dependency. However, when your lover is unhappy with you, he or she can easily become theatrical. You may even interpret your lover’s dramas as abusive, which can shock your partner because your lover considers his or her displays as honest and passionate.

This apparent incompatibility is basically a difference in your styles of loving, as both of you are good-hearted. You are very sensitive in love, and can pick up all the subtleties of your partner’s emotions in a flash. Your partner prefers you to be direct and to the point with your wants.

This relationship can be simultaneously fascinating and frustrating. As Leo and Pisces are two markedly different signs, conscious efforts to understand each other and to make adjustments are necessary in order for this relationship to be harmonious.

Pisces and Virgo:
This is a case of “opposites attract”, except that when signs are literally opposite in Astrology, they share a common thread that can bind them together.

This is a magnetic combination. You sense in each other a common sensitivity, but you express your love in different ways altogether. The truth is that you have much to learn from each other. Relationships become challenging when the very qualities that attract you to one another in the first place become a source of friction later.

Always remind yourself that your partner is just that—your partner, not an enemy. Your partner will appreciate your gentleness and sympathy, although he or she is apt to find you somewhat evasive at times. This is because while your partner is happy to define love, you prefer to leave some things unspoken. (You find it more romantic that way).

Faith in love is something you can teach your Virgo partner, if he or she is open to it. Your partner can help ground you, reminding you that order in a partnership is helpful for establishing a sense of purpose, when done in moderation.

Moderation, in fact, is the answer to establishing balance in your relationship, and with love and compassion, you will find it easier than most couples to work toward that goal.

Pisces and Libra:
This is one of the combinations of signs that requires a fair share of adjustment, simply because the love natures are quite different.

However, both of you are gentle, caring folk in love and these qualities certainly give your relationship a boost. Although both of you are generally willing to adjust for, and accommodate, your partner, the sign of your partner is an Air sign, while yours is a Water sign.

While your partner approaches relationship problems with an intellectual and reasonable attitude, you instinctively respond to problems emotionally. You are motivated most by feelings in relationships, and your partner is motivated most by thought.

You need some space and solitude in order to work things out inside, while your partner’s first instinct is to talk things through. These kinds of issues are not insurmountable, however, especially when you are aware of each other’s unique set of values and needs. Although you will probably find that adjustments are necessary rather frequently, love and understanding can certainly make this partnership work.

Pisces and Scorpio
The two of you have different Venus signs, but they both are Water signs. This suggests an overall understanding for each other.

You sense in each other a similar kind of depth in your approach to relationships, which can be an instant bond in and of itself. You love intuitively and emotionally—you don’t use your mind to judge whether a person is good for you or not. You need to feel the connection.

The same goes for your Scorpio partner. Your partner is more focused on an intimate and exclusive bond than you are. You love deeply and with your heart, but your partner might wonder just how exclusive your feelings are towards him or her.

Your lover wants to get under your skin, and is not always thrilled to share you with the rest of the world, so when you are expressing your compassion for pretty much everyone that comes into your world, he or she may feel a tad threatened. Your partner needs to understand your love of mankind in general.

He or she might worry that you stray too easily—and it’s not about you having an affair. It’s more a concern that you are too impressionable. Why worry about the rest of the world when you have him or her?

That’s the kind of attitude you might expect from your partner, and this is probably your relationship’s biggest issue. Otherwise, the two of you find much in common. You will appreciate your partner’s intensity and depth of feeling.

Pisces and Sagittarius:
Both of you are inclined to look for the best in your partner, and this idealism can strengthen your bond. Your styles in love, however, can be radically different at times.

While your partner is generally very direct about his or her needs in love, you don’t always know what your needs are. And, if you do, they can be hard to define. You are compassionate and intuitive, and need to “feel right” about issues in and surrounding love.

Your partner’s emotions in love move much more quickly, and he or she may at times be impatient with his or her partner as a result. Your feelings in love are easily hurt, but your lover can have an attitude that truth and directness is the only way to go, and as a result, he or she may want you to toughen up. Both of you can be somewhat restless in love.

This can express itself as a certain divine discontent on one end of the spectrum, or outright dissatisfaction on the other.

Try to focus on the “here and now” with each other, and avoid the tendency to look beyond the partnership to fill up the holes in your relationship. Even better, accept that you cannot possibly fulfill each other’s every need, but at the same time, appreciate what each of you has to offer each other—and that is a lot.

Pisces and Capricorn:
You might be very drawn to your Capricorn’s aura of strength and conviction. Your partner exudes an air that he or she “has it together”, and this is very attractive to you, as you are not regimented in your feelings for others. Your partner, in turn, is likely to be intrigued with your kind and hospitable nature.

You actually listen to what he or she has to say, and your willingness to adapt and accept can be extremely attractive to your more disciplined partner. If the both of you can appreciate each other’s differences in expressing love, this union can amount to a mutual admiration society.

However, when the chips are down, these differences might cause challenges. You might find your partner too rigid in his or her expectations from your partnership, and your lover might easily find your dreamy love nature too ethereal. This combination is a mix of Water (Pisces) and Earth (Capricorn), which can be very fertile.

You will be more able than most people to tap into Capricorn’s heart, seeing the warmth underneath the somewhat cool exterior. Your partner will appreciate your adaptability and your acceptance of his or her commitments to the partnership and to other areas of life as well.

Pisces and Aquarius:
This is an unusual combination. You might find that you both share a universal love of mankind, and that you are both very idealistic people.

Your partner loves to brainstorm with a close friend and lover, and in you, he or she has found a completely fascinating brain to “pick”. At times, however, you might pull yourself from under the microscope, as you are certainly more sensitive and moody than your partner is when it comes to relationships. You will gladly go along with your lover’s wonderful visions and ideals, but you look for a connection that runs very deep.

Although you will happily engage in conversation, and thoroughly enjoy your partner’s enthusiasm and vision, you value tender intimacy more than intellectual debate.

Your partner might find you to be “too sensitive”. You are more likely than most to be able to infuse your partner’s creative, inventive mind with just enough emotion, inspiration, and imagination to really take him or her places. Your lover, in turn, can help you tap into your own creative wells and do something real with what is pulled out.

The two of you can make a very productive pair as long as you can effectively combine the worlds of thought and feelings. Neither of you wants to waste time arguing about petty things, and both of you want to see the best in each other. These attitudes will help smooth your relationship.

Pisces and Pisces: This is such a dreamy combination. You share Venus signs in the compassionate and tender sign of Pisces.

No matter how different your personalities are, this Venus connection suggests similar needs from, and views of, partnership. Both of you are willing to adapt to the person you love, and offer each other tender affection.

Both the strengths and the challenges lie in this underlying similarity. Each of you tends to need a partner who will do a little “directing” and “defining” in the relationship. Where are the boundaries? This is probably the main problem you will have with each other. You are both intuitive and not particularly practical when it comes to who, where, what, when, and how in love.

You both thrive on a spiritual connection with your partner. You are likely to find it in each other, but you should also be mindful of some practicalities and realities in your partnership, or you may not be heading anywhere at all.

However, this is a dreamy, romantic, and sweet union of two like-minded individuals. Ideally, elsewhere in your chart comparison, there are more stimulating and grounding connections between the two of you.

Astrologer Russell Grant made history in 1978 when he became the first person in 400 years to publicly give an astrological consultation to the British Royal Family. The media immediately dubbed him “Astrologer Royal”.

Russell Grant’s life changed overnight after the Queen Mother visited his exhibit at the Ideal Home Exhibition and he presented her with her own astrological chart. Grant’s rise to fame was “meteoric”.

His “Daily Stars” astrology/horoscope column was instantly syndicated to over 450 newspapers world-wide and he was signed by Granada Television to become the first daytime astrologer on British TV.

Tina Brown, editor of Tatler, signed Russell to write the astro-column for the popular magazine. From that moment on Russell was the apple of society’s eye. He travelled to New York to front a similar exhibition at the Lincoln Center and appeared on many TV and radio programs including Good Morning America.

In 1984 Russell was honored with an invitation to appear at a Royal Command Performance at the Victoria Palace in front of The Queen Mother and Princess Diana.

The cuddly astrologer became a confidante and “most trusted friend” to Princess Di, according to Paul Burrell, Diana’s secretary. Grant never revealed this relationship until after Burrell’s book.

Russell Grant was born on February 5, 1951 in Middlesex, England and raised by his “Granny”. His parents worked at the famous Pinewood Film Studios and divorced early in his life.

Grant is not only considered British Royalty when it comes to astrology; he actually holds the 1,000 year old royal title of Lord of the Manor of Ashford in Middlesex.

One of astrology’s bona fide characters, “Mr Middlesex” is openly homosexual with a partner of 35 years – “Oh Dahling, the first time I explored Doug’s astral, I knew he was for me.”

Doug Beaumont runs Grant’s website which gets 120 million hits a month. The email-a-psychic service costs $75 or you can call a guardian angel for $4 a minute.

Grant is founder of the Middlesex Family Foundation, which links all the Middlesex-named places around the world together. He has his own officially recognised charity: WISE (Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England) Communities, and works for research into cures for Alzheimer’s and dementia.

At 12 years of age Russell landed the first of his many roles on television, and began performing on stage, and was for many years a successful bit player and character actor. Hosting a television show for Great Britain in New York, he moved to America’s Fox television.

He’s best known as the ebullient, roly-poly astrologer, friend of Princess Di, prancing around in oversized smocks as the face of Eighties morning TV. As the producers suggested ever more outlandish costumes; Grant tired. “I’ve played my own role to death”, he said, “I would like to be somebody else now…maybe, Mel Gibson.”

Having suffered a heart attack, Grant admits to severe bouts of depression and takes anti-depressants. He says that for two years after his “Granny” died he had trouble getting out of bed in the morning “…and when I did, it was just to wonder what was the point of it all”.

She had Alzheimer’s and was nursed by Grant in her last years. “It was heartbreaking. Can you imagine having to wash your own grandmother down and she’s standing there naked but for a string of pearls? That is why I’m such a radical now about finding a cure.”

He began his study of astrology as a youth with Rita Szymanski, the then treasurer of the Astrological Lodge of Great Britain. Russell was a notable medium/clairvoyant before he stepped into the astrological limelight.

In 1994 Russell was one of the first sites online and became a hit across the internet with his “Daily Stars” horoscopes. His Web site www.russellgrant.com currently draws up to ten million visitors every month while over 100,000 people get their daily horoscopes delivered by e-mail to their desktops.

His Illustrated Dream dictionary has been a best seller and translated into over twenty languages.

Russell Grant is now working on a new TV project called “Cosmic House” where with the help of builders, architects and gardeners will be restoring a property from scratch using astrology, feng shui and herbals (for the garden).

As Russell Grant says, “The trouble with astrology is, If you get it wrong, it’s rubbish; if you get it right, you’re bogus.”

“Venus and Neptune will waltz across a star-studded sky on February 14, and it will be a sight to behold! Venus will wear her most shimmering, glamorous gown and glitter brightly in the evening sky! Surely, this will be night for candlelight, for walking under the honeysuckle and for exchanging rings and promises.”

Her tone, which is friendly, chatty and just plain soothing keeps her 17 millions readers coming back for more.

“Your chances for promotion and an increase in status have never been better! My goodness, your career will be on fire from end-of-September though mid-May!” she’ll say, or: “Dear Libra, you’ve not had an encouraging romantic picture for a long time, but as you see, all that is changing now, at long last!”

Susan Miller’s grandfather arrived in New York City from Sicily in 1898 and opened an Italian deli. Later, he purchased a building with three apartments into which he moved his store, his family and some friends.

Much of what follows is Susan, in her own words, for a 2001 Barnes & Noble interview. -

“All my relatives — aunts, uncles, my sister, mother and others — lived in that building on Second Avenue, and after all this time, 100 years later, we all still live within two ZIP codes (about 30 blocks) of where Grandpa built that store in Manhattan.”

Susan Miller was born with a severe birth defect that steadily worsened as she grew older. During one of her many surgeries for the defect a nerve was severed, paralyzing her left leg from the knee down.

During a yearlong hospital stay after the surgery she wrote a letter to Dell’s horoscope magazine asking about her chances of recovery. The answer came back that she would walk normally again. At not yet 15 she felt a surge of hope and a desire to know more about what her chart said about her.

In Susan’s words, “My mother is very interested in astrology and has been since she was a young girl. At home, she never encouraged her children to learn astrology. The books were on the bookcase, but she never actually sat down to teach me or my sister.

After each operation, I had to spend months, at times years, away from friends and family and in physical therapy. Unable to walk, I begged my sister to search the house and bring me books to read, and that began my lifelong research into the subject.” To Susan, astrology books became a source of comfort and bonding with her mother.

“Nobody in my family wanted me to learn astrology, least of all my mother, who, as things were to turn out, was to later teach me everything I knew about the subject.

Fearing criticism for being knowledgeable about a science that was not fully accepted by the public, my mother never told friends that she knew astrology. She never ever did charts for payment. In fact, while I was still a teenager, she advised me not to tell anyone that she knew astrology either.

She felt that any understanding of astrology would require 12 years of careful study just to grasp the basics, and even then she felt I wouldn’t be scratching the surface. “Better to know nothing at all,” she would say. She was right, of course, but you rarely understand your mother’s wisdom at a young age.

The New A to Z Horoscope Maker and Delineator by Llewellyn George was my mother’s favorite basic astrology book”. She would say “Susie, if you have this handbook, you won’t need any others. In a way she was right — mothers are, you know. She was my teacher in astrology, so I should have known.

Every astrologer starts off a skeptic. As a teenager, I was my mother’s biggest skeptic.

At age 16 I started college, a sweet prospect because, after two and a half years of home study, I was going to be out in the world with other kids again. I chose to attend New York University, so I could continue physical therapy. I did extremely well, graduating with a B.S. degree in business, and several honors.

My first job was with Life magazine, and I worked with several other magazines, such as Cosmopolitan and Seventeen. Later I became an agent for with world-class photographers. I enjoyed my work — I never had any plans to leave my industry.

On the side, I continued to study astrology and after 20 or so years of study, had become proficient, later taking the test from various astrological organizations and being deemed accredited.”

She started with family and friends whom she did not charge, and made eclipses her specialty.

“One dear friend who worked at Warner Books offered to help me get an interview with the webmaster of the former Time Warner web site, Pathfinder, so that I could write a predictive column on astrology.

Talks went well, and I was able to launch Astrology Zone®, my web site, in December 1995. I expanded Astrology Zone® into a large 450-screen site, with every article on the site penned personally by me. Later, in April 1999, I moved Astrology Zone® to Disney’s Go.com. When Go.com folded in January 2001, Astrology Zone was picked up by another Disney family member, ABC.com.”

She wrote her first book, published by Warner Books, in 1996, and has since written and published 5 more. Two of her books have held number 1 spots for 5 weeks with Barnes and Nobles.

Susan is a regular TV personality, having appeared on 20/20, The View, Access Hollywood, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, Fox and Friends, Entertainment Tonight, E! and CNBC’s Power Lunch among others, and has been interviewed by Barbara Walters, John Stossel, Paula Zahn, Harry Smith, Bill Griffeth and Dick Clark.

When asked, what is the book that most influenced her life, she answers, “The Bible, this is my guiding light. My faith in God affects all that I do and all that I am. In times of adversity, I recall the stories I read when I faced hard times.

Family time is very important. I have two children that are the light of my life, Chrissie and Diana. We make time to talk to each other every day no matter where we happen to be, even if it’s just to say “Hi, what’s happening?” I also call my mother almost every day, and occasionally I go over to her apartment to work, just so we can be together. Time flows by quickly — we must always make time for the people we love.

No astrologer believes it is healthy to be obsessed with one’s horoscope. The responsibility for success or failure of a person’s life depends on that person; their chart is simply a map of many paths they may decide to pursue.

On my web site, Astrologyzone.com, I have always attracted a very high male readership (an estimated 47% of readers are male). Being curious about the future is a human quality, not strictly a female quality.

Astrology is a wonderful way to look at all of your options and offers a whole spectrum of possibilities for our lives. Plus, there’s an element of surprise and randomness to astrology and men like this, too.

Astrology is not fortune telling. It is also not a religion and it is not a substitute for religion. It does not rely on chance. Astrology is the study of mathematical cycles, unique for each individual, which indicates areas of life that will bring expansion or constriction.

Each individual has free will. It is very important to remember that fact. I’m not able to predict what an individual will do about conditions being presented.

The more you study astrology, the more you realize the enormous power of the individual, both in terms of their personality and outlook on life. In addition, our ability to help others and make a lasting contribution to the world is truly unlimited.

Astrology chose me, rather than me choosing astrology as a life’s path. Perhaps looking at your own life, you can say that you never chose your current career but that it, too, chose you. Sometimes that happens.

Astrology is not an end in itself. The point of using astrology is to shape a happier, more productive life, to use our talents to their fullest form, and to consider some of the many of life’s rich and varied possibilities.

It is a rare and wonderful feeling to discover choices you never realized were there for you, and later to see triumphs materialize that you never thought possible.

Some things simply can’t be described but must be experienced firsthand, and astrology is one such endeavor. Although astrology may not be right for everyone, it could be for you.

I try to talk to each sign like I’m talking to just one person, like I’m talking to my best friend”, Susan says.

“Little Mom”, who taught her the art of reading the stars over a painstaking twelve year period, always told Susan that she needed to work just as hard on her communication style as she did on making accurate predictions. “You can tell people the right thing in the wrong way.”
